I bought this item for my son's birthday and he and I along with his 2 young sons. It's credibility strong. We have been to the local creek many times this past week. We found an old teapot and many older antiques. This magnet is very strong for its size.
I decided to start a new hobby and this was exactly what I was looking for. Great price and had fun my first time out. The magnet is strong and the rope is long enough for me.
Got it out of the box and emmediately went out and slapped it on the mower sheet metal to see if it would pull it. It wouldn't, so I got angry and was about to write a bad review. I noticed on the box it said size of metal changes strength. I can't vouch for 1000lbs but I hooked it to a 2 inch by 1 inch piece and it picked up the 30lb piece no problem.
This magnet has a great pull. Just what you need as a beginner. Our family loves magnet fishing, low cost activity but provides a lot of fun.
